The Team
Without teamwork, no great wine can be made.Michel Rolland, Consultant
Charles de Bournet Marnier Lapostolle
The philosophy of the maison is to embody the culture of the Grands Crus. Clos Apalta, a myriad of details that blend into a miracle of balance and momentum.Charles-Henri de Bournet Marnier Lapostolle
President and Chief Executive Officer
Since 2013, Charles de Bournet Marnier Lapostolle has been stewarding the future of the Domaine Bournet Lapostolle. From his parents, Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and Cyril de Bournet, he has inherited two vital attitudes towards wine: both a passion and a desire to perfect. In his eyes, the Clos Apalta adventure will never be over, because we can always surpass our previous actions. His aim is to continue the work of past generations without cutting anything short, to go always one step further. It is an ongoing quest for a perfect wine which is handed down from generation to generation…
Michel Rolland
Such a project encourages you to take on all kinds of challenges because a jump into the unknown fights the preconceived limitations. My mission was to make a wine of the future with a bold identity. Today, without a doubt, Clos Apalta is an icon.Michel Rolland
Oenologist / Consultant
Michel Rolland has been nurturing an old bond with the family through four trips a year and daily exchanges with them. Since 1997, the oenologist and consultant has been personally involved in all Clos Apalta production, the only property he advises for in Chile. The rise in quality of the wines would not have been possible without his personal investment in each stage of this large project.
Jacques Begarie
Our goal is taste quality because we work for the hedonist. Tirelessly seeking the purest expression of land and time. We don’t dominate the vineyard, we collaborate with it, we seek the start of an answer.Jacques Begarie
Technical Director
Jacques Begarie is without a doubt, the soul of the property. He left France in 2004 to work exclusively with Clos Apalta. He shares the same enthusiasm, the same passion and the same collaboration with the family. Biodynamics is more a route for him than a goal. Thanks to its strong involvement, and that of its teams, Clos Apalta obtained 100% certification by Ceres (Germany) and Demeter (Germany); and, for the first time, a South American wine was in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 (Clos Apalta 2005). Living on the Clos Apalta estate, Jacques always feels like a pilgrim walking towards his ideal wine.
